- Letters discuss family news, elections, church appointments and preferments, dinners and visits, and his health. The letter of 1818 Jul 12 contains his opinion of Mrs. Siddons as "a conversable domestic personage." The letter of 1823 Dec 3 describes dinners with Schlegel; "Captain Franklin....going out again next year to explore Mackenzie's River"; and "the Bishop of Ohio", who was soliciting support for a college to train Episcopal ministers.
