Monck was appointed Commander  in Chief in Scotland on 8 April 1654,  and Allured was given this comission  to bring forces from Ireland to Subdue  the Islands on 24 April. Allured,  later suspected of disaffection, was  superceded by Col. William Brayne.</dc:description></oai_dc:dc>
