Script: main text copied by a single hand in Gothica Cursiva Antiquior Libraria.
Paragraph marks and stroking of majuscules in red. Red plain 1-line versals and one 3-line initial of the same type.
Binding: S. XIX binding: red morocco over cardboard, the covers decorated with blind-tooled, partly silver fillets. Turn-ins gold-tooled. Printed paper pastedowns with brown and blue geometric pattern in the style of textile. Spine blind-tooled with gold-tooled title “DE SIGNIS MONACHORVM”. - Provenance
- Collection of Nicolas Yemeniz, silk-manufacturer at Lyons (1783-1871); his bookplate, in the form of an antique coin with a lion and the inscription “LVG/DVN” on its recto and on the reverse the monogram “YEMENIZ”; sale of this collection, Paris, 1867, lot 2955 (cutting from the sale catalogue pasted on the first flyleaf r). Collection Stoll; engraved bookplate without inscription, showing in a baroque cartouche the front view of a sailing-ship. Purchased from Bernard Quaritch on the Edwin J. Beinecke Fund.
