Folder 918: 14 pp., numbered [1], 2-12, Paper A. p. 12, 13. The manuscript contains words and passages crossed out and inserted revisions. It consists of text which was intended to accompany photographs made by Joseph D. Strong of the Hawaiian embassy to Samoa. In condensed form it appears in A Footnote to History. Mr. J. C. Furnas believes that this commentary was written before Stevenson first saw Samoa, probably in Honolulu in 1889. Unpublished in this form.
