A braying ass on the extreme right reads the 'City Address to their Royal Highness . . .' The Duke stands on the edge or the dais, making an extravagantly low bow, looking through his legs away from the deputation; the Duchess on his right sinks in a curtsey so low tha her petticoats take the form of a circular cushion from the centre of which her head emerges.
