Description: In addition to the Wilkes trial, the report covers the trials of Midshipman William May, Lieutenant Robert E. Johnson, Surgeon C. F. B. Guillou, and Lieutenant Robert F. Pinkney, all members of the Exploring Expedition, which preceded the Wilkes trial (August 17), and a few trials following that of Wilkes. There are also a few clippings on miscellaneous topics in the volume. “Extracts from the Emmons Journal,” describing Fort Vancouver and the courtesy of Mr. Douglas and Dr. McLoughlin, edited by George Thornton Emmons, is published in Oregon Historical Quarterly, 1925, XXVI, 263-273, covering journal entries of July 25 to August 2, 1841.
