Abstract: A sailor sits on the ground outside a house from which a man (doctor) emerges to offer assistance. He has an amused look on his face as he holds his broken peg leg. One of his two companions puts up his hand to hold off the assistance of the doctor as his other companion beckons to a carpenter who carries a plank of wood and a saw in addition to his lunch pail. A woman stands at the window looking out on the scene, her finger to her nose and a slight smile on her face. A small dog walks along the road beside the approaching carpenter
