Through the roof-light of the cabin passengers under umbrellas are seen on deck. A sailor stands on a table to hand up a bucket, spilling the contents disastrously, to another who leans through the aperture, dropping a mop on a woman below. Tables tilt violently, upsetting those seated at them. A ham, a sucking-pig, a German sausage, a bottle of wine, &c, slide or crash to the floor. A man holds up a bottle of Spruce [beer], so that its exploding contents strike the face of a falling woman. There are many other incidents. Passengers lie in the two tiers of berths or struggle from them; others sit on lateral benches or sleep on the floor."--British Museum online catalogue</dc:description><dc:description>Title from caption below image.</dc:description><dc:description>Temporary local subject terms: Ships -- Storms -- Sleeping berths -- Ships, Interirors -- Passengers.</dc:description></oai_dc:dc>
