Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. Chinese porters carry two missionaries down a massive flight of stone stairs on Mount Tai. A male missionary wearing a pith helmet is sitting on a lower stair. The staircase is built into the sheer face of the mountain. This photo is from the papers of Emery Ward Ellis, a missionary serving the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions in Tehchow, Shantung from 1904-1927.
