During the war communications in Szechwan were exceedingly difficult and expensive. A limited number of automobiles were in service on highways. It was not easy even to secure a place on top of goods carried by a truck." [now Sichuan] A group of young Chinese men riding on a truck, all dressed in Western clothing. On the left in the photo is a man in uniform.
