No. 122. Off Duty! Chinese nurses are very much like their sisters in other lands and the ways in which they spend their 'off duty' are very similar. Tennis, tramps around the country side, basket ball teams and base ball are the active side of their interests. On the less active side they do expert embroidery, are very skilful knitters, thinking nothing of knitting a full length winter coat, and are great readers, taking special interest in modern magazines in Chinese and English.These modern Chinese girls shew [sic] keen interest in all that concerns modern women in other countries, and magazines profusely illustrated from which they can gather same idea of the dress, life and surroundings of women in other countries are in great demand. A group of young Chinese women, some still in their uniforms and some not. They are looking at books, magazines, and working on knitting.
