5. "Canton Christian College. Middle School Students and Boy Scouts on the parade grounds at Canton City preparatory to the Parade of June 23, off Shameen, the foreign concession. The banner bears the name of the College in Chinese, Ling Naam Tai Hok. The black arm bands are being worn for the students slain in Shanghai on May 30, by British police." [now Guangzhou] A group of students in white uniforms, one can be seen to have a black band around his left bicep. A large banner is in the front of the photo. Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. Photo relates to the Shameen incident of June 23, 1925, part of a nationwide series of strikes and demonstrations precipitated by the killing of 13 labor demonstrators by British police in Shanghai.
