On the right another officer waits, hat in hand, for recognition. They are Lord Cathcart (1755-1843), then major-general, see BMSat 9564, and General David Dundas (under whom Cathcart had served in Holland in 1794-5), see BMSat 9026. Above the King's head is a scroll: 'Medio tutissimus ibis'. A semicircle of loyal and provincial subjects, chiefly ladies, stretches across the design, facing the King.
