One wooden box made in England or Massachusetts, with an attached lid and iron hinges, straps, and clasp; it measures 19 cm high, 27.5 cm wide, and 18.5 cm deep. The box was painted black and lined with printed paper sheets including a seventeenth-century English xylographic broadside featuring Biblical maxims and pictorial devices, and writings by Samuel Sewall. Owned by Kezia Taylor Stiles and signed by her on the broadside lining the lid: "Kezia Taylor / 1725," it was also inscribed at the right edge by her son: "Ezra Stiles. 1760. This was my Mothers / Mn Kez. Taylor of Westfield."
