John D. Parmenter, Private, Co. G, 67th Pa. Vols., aged 16, was admitted to Harewood U.S.A. Gen'l Hospital, April 16th, 1865, suffering from a gangrenous ulcer on the external side of left foot over malleolus, the result of a gun shot wound received at the battle of Amelia Springs, Va., April 6th, 1865. Amputation of left leg, lower third, by a circular incision, June 21st, 1865, by Surg. R. B. Bontecou, U.S.V. The condition of injured parts at the time of operation was gangrenous and sloughing, the bones being necrosed, and the patient considerably emaciated. Patient improving.
