Tender buttons : objects

Fifty-nine comics-adaption drawings, 2011-2015, that illustrate or respond to the OBJECTS section of Gertrude Stein, Tender Buttons (1914). Twelve drawings from the collection were issued as greeting cards in Sandra Gibbons' OBJECTS from Tender Buttons (Portland, Oregon: Flash+Card and c_L, 2011). Includes five copies of an illustrated broadside from Passages Bookshop, Portland, Oregon, which advertise an exhibit of the drawings, July 1-30, 2016

In addition to a drawing of the section title, OBJECTS, on one sheet, the drawings illustrate 58 poems on 47 sheets. The titling of the illustrations replicates the titles and capitalization used by Stein and the arrangement follows publication order. Gibbons also applied sequential numbers to each drawing that illustrates a poem

Each drawing or discrete sequence of drawings include the entire text of an illustrated poem except for excerpts from four poems: A SUBSTANCE IN A CUSHION, A PLATE, A CHAIR, and BOOK

Poems with drawings over two sheets include GLAZED GLITTER and A PIECE OF COFFEE. A LITTLE CALLED PAULINE is illustrated with a drawing over three sheets

The drawings are housed with the section title and drawings A CARAFE, THAT IS BLIND GLASS through A NEW CUP AND SAUCER and OBJECTS (in Box 1) and drawings EYE GLASSES and CUTLET through THIS IS THIS DRESS, AIDER as well as copies of the broadside (in Box 2).
