He has whiskers and a moustache and wears a busby with aigrette and bag, indicating an hussar regiment. He wears a sword but his bayonetted musket leans against the wall behind him. The girl wears a curiously shaped cap, with two tails hanging down her back. An officer walking past stops to stare and snigger; behind him is a cannon in an embrasure.
