Clubbe dedicated the 'Physiognomy' to Hogarth, and the author's son claimed that Hogarth had drawn at least the faces, but that perhaps the rest of the design was by Joshua Kirby, draughtsman and writer on perspective and a mutual friend to Hogarth and Clubbe.
