There is a gap but the account continues on the Mormon Trail to the Humboldt and the Truckee. The journal covers Orvis's experiences in the mines and in Sacramento. The journal is followed by accounts and records of employment showing that Orvis was back on his farm in Wisconsin  by 1858.</dc:description><dc:format>text</dc:format></oai_dc:dc>
