Father Lievens serves rice to school boys outside a small building.  On the back is printed, "'We leefden in armoe te Torpa.  Ons gewoon eten bestond uit rijst, zwarte koffie en geroosterd brood.' (brief van Pater Lievens' metgezel.)"  A letter written by Father Lievens' companion describes the relative poverty.
