The background is its own repeating decoration of decorated squares. At the helm, surrounded by mantling that cloaks the entire shield, is a knight's helmet with a torse on top. At the crest is a lion, with the initials "SS" beneath his rear right leg; two ringlets near his left shoulder and upper abdomen, and a fret between his two front paws.
