Abstract: The Osborne Russell papers include a manuscript draft and galley proof of "Journal of a Trapper." The journal describes the country, climate, animals, and Indians of the Rocky Mountains, as well as the life of a hunter. An appendix contains further information on the country and the Snake and Crow Indians. The galley proof may be for the 1921 edition. There are letters by Osborne to his sisters, one containing an account of the Whitman Massacre, and a letter by Rebecca Russell to Osborne's sister.
