The front flyleaf gives mileage between towns and villages beginning with Rotherham and continuing through Derbyshire and what is now Greater Manchester and finally to Ulverston (Lanscashire), perhaps a clue to the start and end of the trip; below this list is a sketch of a tree (orientation, reversed).
