- Abstract
-
The Placerville and Humboldt Telegraph Company had constructed a magnetic telegraph line from Placerville, California, to Salt Lake City, Utah, and St. Joseph, Missouri. Further plans were made to construct a direct line to California in the spring, but financial aid was needed. In this letter, President Bee wrote to Senator Gwin requesting that he get Congress to underwrite the company for a specified period of time.
