Abstract: "A copy of a Rowlandson watercolour, see British Museum Satires No. 11111. An ugly foppish apothecary, with drink-blotched profile, kneels at the feet of a handsome young woman, one hand on his breast, the other pointing to a cloth at his feet on which are spread clyster-pipes, knife, pestle and mortar, and a bottle: 'Elixer of Life Drops'. She stands, making a gesture of surprise. Behind are the curtains of a bed, and a door (right) round which looks an amused man."--British Museum online catalogue
