Georgia O'Keeffe letters to Betty Pilkington

Collection consists of 76 pieces of correspondence, including 70 autograph letters and notes, 4 autograph postcards, and 2 telegrams, from O'Keeffe to her friend Betty Pilkington (1927-2002) of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Most of the letters were sent from O'Keeffe's home in Abiquiu, New Mexico, but the largest group dates from her 1958 extended stay in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida, when she spent time with her newly widowed sister Anita O'Keeffe Young (1891-1985). The letters often include requests for Pilkington to handle domestic tasks, such as shopping for specific items, and mention arrangements for Pilkington's visits to Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch. O'Keeffe occasionally describes her daily activities and impressions of her surroundings, with some commentary about her two sisters; one letter was addressed to both Betty Pilkington and Claudia O'Keeffe.
