23 letters from Crèvecoeur to his sons, Guillaume-Alexandre and Phillippe-Louis, almost all in English, containing discussion of the boys' educations and social development; Crèvecoeur's business affairs, including his attempt to establish a packet-ship service between France and the United States; and his progress on the third volume of Lettres d'un cultivateur Amèricain. With 3 letters from Crèvecoeur's daughter, America-Frances ("Fanny") to her father and 30 letters from various members of the French nobility addressed to Crèvecoeur's sons. Correspondents include the comtesse d'Houdetôt, Crèvecoeur's patron; the duc de la Rochefoucauld-Liancourt, and the Baron de Breteuil.
