Beneath title is inscribed four lines of verse, followed by a description of the circumstances of Anne Stonhouse's death: She died a few days after [the] birth of her 4th child, Dec. 1st 1747 in [the] 25th year of her age.
Bound in opposite page 86 in James Hervey's copy of the first edition of his Meditations among the tombs.
Provenance: Formerly owned by James Hervey, the volume containing his manuscript corrections, annotations, and additions for the third edition. Purchased by W.S. Lewis from Chaucer Head, January 1946.
