" ... cauato da libri scrtti dal signor Don Pietro Martyre ... et da molte altre particulari relationi"--Leaf [1] verso.
Translated extract from the Latin and based on the first three decades of the author's De orbe nouo, originally published Alcalá de Henares, 1516, according to Winsor and Arents. On the other hand, Moraes holds that the present work is an extract from Anghiera's fourth decade, originally published under title: De nuper sub D. Carolo repertis insulis, simulque incolarum moribus. Basel, 1521.
Very likely compiled and edited by Giovanni Battista Ramusio, according to Arents and Streeter coll. auction cat.; cf. also discussion in Winsor.
