Volume two comprises a lithographed title leaf and lithographed list of illustrations, followed by 81 intaglio illustrations: 33 smaller images numbered Vig. I-XXXIII and 48 larger images numbered Tab. 1-48. The illustrations have titles in English, German and French, and imprints Coblenz bei J. Hölscher, London published by Ackermann & Co. 96 Strand, ... 1839 [-1843], Paris, Arthus Bertrand, editeur. Some have a blind stamp "C. Bodmer Direct." below each plate. The plate inscriptions vary, sometimes being omitted or differently arranged. Plates occur in five states. See: Wagner.
Folded map bound at the end of volume 1 has title "Map to illustrate the route of Prince Maximilian of Wied, in the interior of North America. From Boston to the upper Missouri &a. in 1832, 33 & 34."
Includes Appendix: p. [507]-520.
The appendix on Native American languages and some matters of detail, present in the original German edition, are omitted in translation.
