- This album documents trips to northwestern Montana and among the Piegan Indians, 1896-1898. Identified sites in northwestern Montana include Cutbank Creek, Divide Mountain, Going-to-the-Sun Mountain, Red Eagle Mountain, Running Eagle Falls (formerly Trick Falls), Saint Mary Lake, Saint Mary River, Swiftcurrent Creek, Swiftcurrent Lake, and Two Medicine Lake. Images of Piegan Indians sites and activities include a Sun Lodge, which includes an image of a Brave Dogs Society (Kana'tsomitaiksi) ceremony, as well as a sweat lodge depicted uncovered and covered, groups of Grass Dancers, and burial sites on the surface and in a tree. Discrete informal group portraits depict Piegan Indians and European Americans during a cattle roundup on the Blackfeet Agency during the summer 1898. Other images of European Americans include a group of three men outside a cabin and men in a pack train. Identified Piegan Indians include Blood and his wife, Calf Shirt with a snake, Nitana and two children, and Nose Cut Already Off (Ikaika Chakarie). A group portrait depicts Duck Head and his wife, Riding Cream Horse, as well as Swims in Water and his wife, Knife Scabbard Woman.
