The collection includes numerous lists of works Reynolds saw while visiting Italian museums, houses, and private collections; a pencil drawing of a country house; and an undated letter regarding "the beautiful Episode of Abradatas and Panthea": of this episode, he writes, "it occurred to me that this Story might furnish to the pencil a Suite of Subjects."
