Among the surnames most prominent in the collection are Bradley, Daggett, Dunning, Howe, Howell, Hotchkiss, Leffingwell, Lewis, Root, Skinner, and Trowbridge, with some of the deeds related to settlement of estates in these families. Also present are documents related to Scipio C. Augustus and Bias Stanley, both African Americans and residents of New Haven, and the city's Eagle Bank.
