- Abstract
-
Satire on Dutch and English sailors. A fat Dutchman on the left, wearing a large hat and holding a long pipe in his right hand, converses with a surly-looking English sailor on the right, who wears a small hat and holds a small pipe, a snuffbox in his vest pocket. The dialogue, in speech bubbles above, consists of puns on the names of the ports of Portsmouth and Amsterdam. In the distance beyond each figure is a small representation of each port, including a sailor of each respective nationality
