The maps (scale 1 inch to the mile) represent the first official survey of this part of Nebraska and South Dakota. The route taken by the party, indicated by camping places and dates, falls into four groups: Sioux City to Loup Fork; Fort Laramie to Laramie Peak and back; Fort Laramie to the Black Hills, Cheyenne and Niobrara Rivers; and down the Niobrara to Missouri. These charts have been keyed to a printed map, "Military map of Nebraska and Dakota by Lieut. G. K. Warren....", 35th Cong., 1st. Sess
