Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. and Astronomical instruments are relatively unimportant things to be mentioned in international documents, but these famous and wonderful old bronze implements that were stolen by the Germans many years ago and only just returned are worthy of fame. The trip to the city wall is one of our favorite outings, but we have not often stopped to inspect these beautifully ornamented and most intricate instruments. This group is the dozen or so, mechanically selected, freshmen and sub-freshmen who are a teacher's special advisees, in the hope that each girl may get special attention and help during her first years, before she comes under the direction of the head of her major department. On one of our recent holidays, all the groups of advisees scattered for some sort of amusement.

Peking University stands for equal educational opportunities for men and women and this is one of the few institutions in China where men and women students meet on the footing that they do in coeducational universities in America. The students of the women's college of Peking University recently broke all precedents by presenting a Shakespearean play, the girls carrying all the roles, and giving the $1,200 in receipts from the performance to the famine sufferers.

Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. and When the President of the Republic invited all the students of the city to celebrate the National Holiday, on the day before, by a visit to his palace grounds, we suspended classes for half a day, and went in large numbers to wander through the beautiful old historic building, the lovely gardens, and crowded courts. Some of us were particularly impressed with the number of other girl students there were in the city, not to mention the bravery of all of us in facing a most disagreeable dust-wind to go.
