Abstract:
A collection of 78 photographs, in three volumes, of authors, including Mark Van Doren, Roland Barthes, Elie Weisel, Arna Bontemps, Alger Hiss, Wole Soyinka, Arthur Kopit, and Eric Bentley. A fourth volume contains 17 photographs of Montana ranchers and their family members. Three typescript profiles by Wang - of Wesley Towner, Kingsley Martin, and Ted Joans - are included in a separate box.
Contains photographs of Baldwin by Jill Krementz (published in 1985) for Playboy. Other manuscript materials are a printed leaflet for the "National Day of Mourning for the Children of Birmingham" (1963) in which Baldwin participated as well as a transcription and clipping of an abridged version (published in Isis) of Baldwin's speech at Oxford University for the joint meeting of JACARI (a student-run university charity) and the student union in 1965.

Abstract:
Photographs created by E. J. Bellocq chiefly of nude prostitutes in Storyville, New Orleans, Louisiana, circa 1910-1915, and printed from his negatives by an unidentified printer, probably in 1950. E. J. Bellocq (1873-1949), born John Ernest Joseph Bellocq, was a commercial photographer who worked in New Orleans, Louisiana, circa 1902-circa 1940. Bellocq is best known for his photographs of prostitutes working in Storyville, the legalized red light district of New Orleans. and Print No. 4 depicts a nude woman posed sitting sideways on a wooden chair with her legs crossed in front of a draped window. A large steamer trunk and wooden shelves are partially visible on the left edge of the image.

Linen mat tape affixed to verso of each print with a pencil number inscription, 1-7, probably inscribed by Abraham Stransky. and Pencil inscriptions on the verso of each print in an unidentified hand, probably transcribed from original mats: "Ernest J.
