Digital image of oil painting taken in 2009 hanging in Sterling Hall of Medicine by Yale Photo and Design. Cogswell was offered the position of professor of medicine and surgery at the newly founded Medical Institution of Yale College. Preferring to remain in Hartford, he declined in favor of Nathan Smith.
