Description:
Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. and Jap defense opposite E. Lee's May 1st. A military defense site outside a town. Sandbags are piled on top of each other, an additional gate made of logs is in front of the wall, and the barricade is ringed with barbed wire. Behind this defense stand several men, some in uniform and some in civilian clothing, presumably Japanese. A light colored flag is in front of the barrier. In the background, other soldiers and civilians are visible.
Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive., Found with 1938 article Several Imperial Japanese Army officers are shown seated with a large gathering of people indoors. Chinese characters are printed on the back of the photograph., and Lorenzo and Ruth Bennett Morgan were American medical missionaries in the Jiangsu and Anhui provinces of China, serving under the Presbyterian and Methodist mission boards from 1905 to 1946.
