An album of photographs that document the construction of the Cold Springs Dam by the United States Bureau of Reclamation near Hermiston, Oregon, 1906-1908., Images consist primarily of views of the site for the Cold Springs Dam before, during, and after its construction, including views of trenches, chutes, gates, and spillways. Images of specific equipment used in construction include a Marion steam shovel on a flat railway car, small steam locomotives, and an excavator with an orange peel grapple, in addition to dump cars situated on both railroad cars and sleds manufactured by the Kilgore Peteler Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota., Many of the photographs were created by photographers B. H. Davis or W. C. Sawyer., Several images depict the mess halls, offices, and dormitories for workers; and a railroad grade and trestle used for transporting construction materials. A few images provide indirect views of the campsite used by Greek nationals who worked on the project., Several images document the aftermath of a railroad wreck involving a dump car that injured a brakeman. A few images document damage caused by floods of the construction site in February 1907. An image shows a team of horses hauling a locomotive overland to the dam construction site, and another image illustrates prehistoric bones unearthed during construction., and Views of interiors include images showing men posed among equipment, probably in a machine shop; men posed among desks, probably in the project office; and a man in a general store, which includes a sign advertising Lowney's chocolate bonbons.

Abstract:
Collection consists of a scrapbook and other papers. The scrapbook, "My Scouting History," contains autograph and typescript entries, photographs, merit badges and awards, correspondence, and printed ephemera documenting Jackson's membership in an African-American boy scout troop, Troop 42 of Camden, New Jersey from 1937 to 1943. Other papers include one letter, photographs, scarves, and printed material, dating from 1946 to 1965, relating chiefly to Jackson's involvement in Troop 43 of the Boy Scouts of America. and Folder 1 of 2 completely digitized.

Bell left from San Francisco, California, to Vancouver, Canada. He then visited tourist sites in Hawaii, Japan, China, the Soviet Union, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, England, France, the Netherlands, and Belgium, before returning to the United States via New York. His narrative details his impressions of the different locales, including a description of travel on the Trans-Siberian Railway in the Soviet Union. The volume also includes material related to a political rally of the British Union of Fascists in October 1934. Snapshot photographs throughout the volume depict sites and street scenes along his journey. and Scrapbook that documents a trip around the world by Lynn Morley Bell, May-November 1934. The volume includes narrative about the trip, as well as circa 130 mounted photographic prints, circa 145 newspaper clippings and printed items, and 15 booklets and pamphlets tipped in or laid in. Hotel stickers and travel decals, mostly from Japan and the Soviet Union, cover the boards of the volume, while the rear pastedown includes 11 photographs of United States consulates or legations visited by Bell.

Lynn Morley Bell (1913-1997) was born in Dinuba, California. He was the son of Geoffrey Bell (1889-1961) and Hazel Winderdale Franklin Bell (1889-1957), and grew up in Ukiah, California. In 1938, he graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, and then worked as a salesman. In June 1939, he married Julia Powell (1916-1996), and they lived in Palo Alto, California. and Purchased from Marc Selvaggio Bookseller on the Elizabeth Wakeman Dwight Memorial Fund, 2009.

Murdoch's recitation at Pike's Opera House in Cincinnati, October 31, 1864. It includes four letters written by Read and one by E. D. Grafton; copies of accounts by Leon Vanloo and Davis L.
