Description:
Blue two cent revenue stamp verso. In the opinion of R.L. Simpson this may well be the first published photograph of Sojourner Truth. At the time the photograph was taken, she was living on Long Island with a Quaker family. This image predates the photographs titled: "I sell the shadow to support the substance" which she took with her and sold during her evangelistic "sojourns" throughout the country.
