Apparently transcribed from the printed work which was published in Benevento in 1696 (one copy recorded by Eitner, who records also a MS copy). The work is a theoretical and practical introduction to Gregorian Chant. The first part uses for demonstration the hymns of the Church,and the second gives examples of chant in choral notation.

The volume contains bass or continuo parts to Sonatas, Airs, Overtures, Dances, and other pieces by Henry Purcell ((1659-1695), Daniel Purcell ([1660]-1717), John Jenkins (1592-1678), William Lawes (1602-1645), Nicola Matteis, Diedrich Becker, Robert Wren, A. Poole, Matthew Locke (1630-1677), and Athanasius Kircher (1602-1680). The volume is written in several hands, and William H. Cummings, a biographer of Purcell, has written on l.11: ""This curious book contains several pages undeniably in the handwriting of Henry Purcell..."" The other hands are attributed by Cummings to Pelham Humfrey (1647-1674), John Blow (1648-1708), and William Croft (1678-1727).
