"A companion print to BMSat 9670. In a squalid room French dancers practise to a fiddle played by an older man (right) who dances as he plays. The parents of the four children dance, facing each other. She is elegant, buxom, with an elaborate feathered coiffure. He is lean, wearing a tattered but well-fitting coat over bare legs, with sleeve-ruffles (cf. the old gibe that the Frenchman wore ruffles but no shirt). He wears a toupee wig with a long queue. A boy and girl, both with hair elaborately dressed, dance together more vigorously. A little girl (right) with bare legs practises the first position, heels together. On the left a boy plays the pipe and tabor to two dogs, one wearing cloak and hat, whom he is teaching to dance. His chair is the only furniture except for a truckle-bed (left) turned up to the wall and a much-tilted wall-mirror (right). A lean cat has climbed to a small cupboard recessed in the wall near the ceiling and licks a stoppered bottle. The cupboard contains a coffee-pot, a covered jar, &c. A print of two clumsy peasant dancers is pinned to the wall, from which plaster has flaked. All practise with serious concentration."--British Museum online catalogue.

In an outdoor setting, Lord North and Charles Fox are shown embracing. Fox, taller of the two, his face expressing satisfaction, nearly lifts the perplexed-looking North off the ground in an attempt to kiss him on the mouth saying, "I perfectly agree with your Lord Ship." To their right, under a tree, a fox and a clumsy-looking dog with a collar inscribed "North" sniff at each other. In the background on the left stands a small figure of Lord Shelburne saying "Risum teneatis Amici."

"The interior of the House of Commons, the Speaker in his chair, the two clerks, Hatsell and Ley, writing at the table on which is the mace. The members are represented by dogs, some having human faces; in the foreground four ministerial hounds (left) and four opposition leaders (right) tear violently at a paper inscribed 'Commercial Treaty'. On the right benches opposition hounds are in hungry cry after their leaders, on the left the ministerialists are gnawing bones with eyes fixed on the contest. The four Government dogs, who have human faces, are Pitt, a lean greyhound, his collar inscribed 'Fawning-Billy'; next him Dundas, his collar 'Treasurer Navy'; next Pepper Arden, his collar 'At. Gen', and last, Archibald Macdonald, his collar 'Sol. G.' Opposite these are North, wearing his ribbon, gnawing greedily, and Fox tearing ferociously (these two have quasi-human heads), Burke, a dog wearing spectacles, and Sheridan, his collar inscribed 'Sc. for Scan[dal]'. Three yelping puppies fawn on Fox, one of whom is probably intended for Grey. Behind the Speaker's chair stand members of the House of Lords, scandalized at the uproar. Spectators look down from the galleries."--British Museum online catalogue.

"A game of billiards is being played on a table, one corner of which only is visible, so curiously elongated that it gives the impression of a triangular table. The two players stand by the corner of the table, the one who is about to make a stroke appears from his leanness, frogged coat, and long pigtail queue to be a Frenchman; he leans over the table in profile to the left, wearing pince-nez. His opponent watches him, standing on top-toe, his cue held over his left shoulder, his face screwed up in anxiety; he wears a bag-wig. A number of spectators look on with expressions of amusement or concern: on the right two men stand together grinning; on the left a man watches open-mouthed; behind the table a man watches with an expression of alarm, another takes cover behind him with a grin; a small boy stands beside them. In the foreground are two dogs, one, a greyhound, stands between the player's legs. On the wall behind the table is a rack of cues and two clock-faced scoring boards both pointing to the figure X. On the right is a door, on the left a small casement window. Pictures and prints decorate the wall (left to right): a print of Wilkes (bust) with two caps of liberty; a print of a nymph and satyr; a print of a man seated, three quarter length; a print of a man and woman whole-length; two framed landscapes."--British Museum online catalogue.

"Inscription in the upper right. corner: 'A Serio Comic Scene that befel the Grocers Wife at Norwich Or Mrs Figgs bottom exposed owing to the bottom of Mr Figgs Whiskey breaking through.' The two-wheeled gig has stopped at the door of an old-fashioned grocer's shop. A plump woman stands on the ground behind the shafts, naked between waist and stockings, the hole in the floor of the gig having scraped up her petticoats. A scene of violent action: one man holds the head of the restive horse. Men (l.) rush to look at the unfortunate woman who screams with upraised arms, as does her husband who stands with his back to his shop. A woman furiously clutches the hair of a too-eager spectator (r.); a barking dog leaps towards Mrs. Figg. Over the shop-door hangs a conical sign: 'Old Sugar loaf.' A board over the door is inscribed 'Grocery Sweetmeats Hams Tongues Starch Plumbs Figs Vermicelli Tripe Barley Pickles Mustard Soap Hogs Puddings &c Sold here by Peter Figg.' In a bow window are many jars, &c, two inscribed 'Mustard' and 'Virgin Honey'. Above it are two large pot-plants. An agitated woman screams from a casement window over the door. On the house is a placard: 'Cattle Life Insurance Cow Lane Smithfield.'."--British Museum online catalogue.
