Osborn, 1961., First and third quires wanting., Imperfect: stained by mildew throughout; rubbing; multiple repairs with some loss of text., Rubrications at running titles, initials, Latin commentary., Sir George Meyrick, Bart., who sold the manuscript after his father's death in 1960, said that the manuscript had been in his family's possession for over 100 years and that in 1775 the house was almost destroyed by fire. Binding: Original brown leather over bevelled beech boards, both covers blind-tooled with fillets and small tools in ropework design. Sewn on three split leather thongs. Spine damaged. Remnants of three clasps, one at the top, one at the bottom and one at the side edge of the covers, each attached with three engraved nails to the front cover; quadrangular decorated brass catches on the rear cover, engraved with the initial “S” and each fixed with four nails., Headings in purplish red. Alternately red and blue paragraph marks and 1- and 2-line plain initials with guide letters. Script: copied by a single hand writing Gothico-Humanistica Libraria on the basis of Italian Hybrida. Pale red headings. Flourished initials with penwork and marginal extensions, 2-line up to f. 16r, generally 3-line from f. 16v onwards. On f. 1r 2-line white vinestem initial incorporated into a border corner piece of the same style. In the lower margin two marks of oval seals (?) and the early number or date “1264”.
