In Latin and Anglo-Saxon., Script: Written by two scribes, Scribe 1, ff. 1r-9v: a vigorous and well spaced Anglo-Saxon minuscule; preference for minuscule d; strokes of letters often extend well into margin at end of line. Scribe 2, ff. 10r-26v: slightly cramped hand; preference for uncial d. Anglo-Saxon glosses added by several hands either in small upward-leaning Caroline minuscule or in a somewhat larger script that uses insular letter-forms., Decorative initials, 5- to 2-line, in black surrounded by red dots; smaller initials, 2- to 1-line, in red, often with traces of yellow. Letters, stroked with red, many now oxidized; occasional punctuation in red., Folios 8, 9, and 22 have been used as wrappers; mutilated with loss of text. Significant water damage on ff. 19r-20v, 26r; rewritten by later scribe., and Binding: ca. 1850. Olive paper case with "Middle Hill boards," bound by George Bretherton of Gloucester who worked for Sir Thomas Phillipps, 1848-51.

In Latin., Script: written in Caroline minuscule., and Decoration: crude 6-line initial "D" and 5-line initial "L" in brown and orange-red ink, L terminates in a bird's head; 1-line initials in brown uncials with enlarged minuscule "e" and frequently touched in red on f. 1r; incipits and explicits in brown rustic capitals and the word explicit traced in red; punctuated primarily with punctus; three scribes; scribe one occasionally uses punctus elevatus and punctus versus; contemporary corrections in lighter ink.
Manuscript on parchment (thick, poor quality) of excerpts from the writings of Church Fathers, canon law, and conciliar documents. There has been extensive scholarly debate about the manuscript's provenance and its relation to other copies of the Pseudo-Isidore Decretals. The manuscript seems to have been written, corrected, and rubricated by multiple scribes and to have been composed in units; the quality of the parchment often changes from scribe to scribe

Art. 3 has a title in mixed Capitalis/Uncialis. The part of art. 4 copied by hand B has some highlighting in yellow, red or green and plain initials; the part copied by hand C has a few plain initials; the 12th-century part copied by hand D has red headings with instructions in small script written in the outer margins, plain or flourished Romanesque initials and an explicit in decorated mixed Capitalis/Uncialis. Art. 5 is undecorated apart from its title and the opening initial. There are effaced drawings in the lower margins of some leaves in art. 1., and Binding: Twentieth century. Reddish brown morocco over cardboard, by Riviere and Son. Spine with five raised bands and gold-tooled inscription "S. GREGORII DIALOGI. SAEC. X".
