Additionally, to the left of the tree is a small crescent. At the helm is a knight's helmet, backed by elaborate leafing. At the crest, atop a torse, is an armored right-handed arm grasping a laurel wreath. Below the shield is a long, narrow banner with the motto Bear and Forbear upon it. Further still is a larger, wider banner with the title text upon it. An enclosed note identifies William Oliver (1698-1764), Secretary of the Royal Society and inventor of the 'Bath Oliver' biscuit.
