Poole, Matthew Locke (1630-1677), and Athanasius Kircher (1602-1680). The volume is written in several hands, and William H. Cummings, a biographer of Purcell, has written on l.11: ""This curious book contains several pages undeniably in the handwriting of Henry Purcell..."" The other hands are attributed by Cummings to Pelham Humfrey (1647-1674), John Blow (1648-1708), and William Croft (1678-1727).
