A close view of one of the academic buildings at the University. In the foreground is a smaller building, possibly a home. A tree stands in the center of the photo and lines are attached to it, with clothing hanging from them.
“Kesramal: Soin des malades. Ziekenverpleging.” A missionary sister nurse or doctor is shown bandaging the foot of a young woman outside the mission clinic. Two women with new bandages are seen nearby. The caption and following information are printed on the back of the postcard: “Congrégation des Filles de la Croix de Liége. Congregatie de Dochters van het Kruis te Luik. Maison-mère - Moederhuis: rue Hors-Château, 49. Mission des Indes Orientales. Missie van Oost Indië. Ern. A missionary sister doctor or nurse is shown bandaging the hand of an older village woman while three young women sit nearby. A thatched roof hut is seen in the background. This is situated on the older part of the University grounds, inside the suburb wall and surrounded by densely congested city. It has its own courtyard, with shrubbery and flowers, described by a girl student once as 'an Eden's garden.' A view of a light colored building, with a great deal of plant life in the yard.
A European doctor and two indigenous men give medical treatment to a room of indigenous men, women, and children: one man is being checked with a stethoscope, another receives a spoonful of medicine., Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive., and The back of the postcard is blank and contains a printed title: "Une des consultations du Poste de la Croix-Rouge du Congo. - Een der raadplegingsposten van het Roode-Kruis van Kongo." ("One of the consultations of the Post of the Red Cross of Congo.") The back also contains information about the printer: "Ern. Thill, Bruxelles."

Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. and Frame 18 - School Health Work, being done by Cheeloo students. This is a form of public health work which the Ministry of Health of the National Government has pushed intensively in recent years, and that department in the Government has been headed by a Cheeloo graduate. One of the schools which is used for supervised practice of school health is the Ch'ung Te Primary School, a private school for the children of University staff and employees, but other schools in the city have had Cheeloo staff and students as their health officers. This service includes annual physical examinations, immunization against contagious diseases and the teaching of health habits. A doctor is sitting by a table and examining a child. Around him are some other adults and a few children wandering by.
