A coat of arms with a bend dividing the image into two vertical portions and featuring three scallop shells on it. At the helm is a griffin. Surrounding the shield is elaborate leafing, flowers, and grasses. Below the shield is the motto E Conchis Omnia.
The plate owner's monogram is at the center of this design, with the horizontal edges above and below featuring the title text. Above is the bowl of hygeia; to the left vertical side, a microscope. At center, amongst the initials of the monogram, is a banner with the motto In Labore Vita upon it.
A scroll with a moth-like insect in the center, and a pupae on either side. The motto beneath the creatures reads Natura doceri. Behind the scroll are several oak leaves.
A shoreline scene with a large shell in the forefront, with trees and water in the background. Two columns make up the vertical sides of the border, each with a scallop shell in the middle. In each corner of the border there is a different coat of arms, save for the lower right-hand corner, which shows a shield that reads "South Australia". Above the scene, in the upper horizontal border, is the motto Omnia Deus Dat.

A night scene is viewed from within a Roman-esque structure with two large columns, the right-hand one wrapped with a thick vine. The scene contains a large leafed tree upon a cliff, with a sill body of water beyond. A crescent moon hovers over the horizon, and an owl is in flight beneath the tree. Atop the monument is the motto Nox Venit.
