A color reproduction of a surgical scene by Hans von Gersdorff, 1551. A surgeon operating on the head of a patient. Trent gave his collection to Duke University upon his death.

The next line, written along the border below, reads "Box 278, Sterling Hall of Medicine, New Haven, Conn". The bookplate is probably a stock item in which the collector writes his or her name below.
